General Information: fMRI Study

This is information regarding the fMRI study that you may have signed up to do. There are two parts to this study. Both will be done in La Jolla. 

Can you get to La Jolla? 

If not, then thank you for your interest, but we would really need you to come to La Jolla. You can still participate in our Emotion study though. Someone will contact you, should you qualify for that study.

The MRI study pays $100 for about 2-3 hours of your time over two different days. The first part is to have you come in to our La Jolla office for an in-person interview (this usually takes from 30 minutes to one hour). During this interview, you will be asked about your mood and anxiety. This part of the study is to see if you qualify for the MRI study. If it turns out that you do not qualify for the study, we will pay you $25 in cash and that will be the end of your participation. (If you do not qualify it does not mean that something is wrong, it simply means that the criteria that we are looking for has not been met)

If you do qualify for the study, you will participate in the second part, which is the MRI. This will be done at UCSD at your convenience and will take from 1 ½ -2 hours. During this part of the study, you will be in the MRI scanner for an hour and will complete some computerized tasks, similar to those done at the SDSU experiment. Your MRI time will be scheduled during the in-person interview. We will pay you $100 once you're done with both parts. In addition, we will also mail you a picture of your brain.

From SDSU - go 8 West to 5 North

Take the La Jolla Village Exit

Go West (left) at La Jolla Village

Make a left at the first traffic light which is Villa La Jolla (there's a Mobile station at one corner and Rock Bottom Restaurant at the other corner)

Make a right at the first entrance into the building - 8950 Villa La Jolla - La Jolla Professional Building (the entrance is in between Rock Bottom and El Torito Restaurants)

Go toward the back toward Building "C" (it's a drab gray building)

Park and come up to the top floor (2nd floor) following the signs for C-207.

Suite C-207 will have a UCSD Department of Psychiatry sign

8 West to 5 North Ø From the 5 Freeway, exit Gilman Drive (North) Ø Turn right on Osler Lane Ø Park in metered spots (do not have to pay on the weekends)

Once at the front door, knock so that we can let you in the building.
